Koh Samui is fast becoming a popular international golfing destination and all three of Koh Samui's golf courses are easy to get to from the villa. Clubs, equipment and all accessories can be hired or purchased on site.
Santiburi Samui Country Club
Santiburi was the island's first world class golf resort and is recognised as one of Thailand's best and often compared to Phuket's Blue Canyon. It's part of the Santiburi Resort & Spa and annually hosts professional tournaments including the Bangkok Airways Open. Santiburi is acclaimed for its spectacular scenery, challenging course (known affectionately as The Beast) and excellent year round playing conditions.
Royal Samui Golf & Country Club
Koh Samui's second championship golf course is the more recently opened Royal Samui Golf & Country Club. Set across a mountain top in the Lamai Beach area, there are spectacular views over surrounding islands and you can even see the Thai mainland from the course.
Bophut Hills Country Club
This beautifully designed 9 hole, par 3 course at Bophut Hills is perfect for beginners or groups, as well as more serious golfers who want to fine tune their iron play before heading to one of the championship courses.

Scuba diving.
Koh Samui is blessed with breath-taking scuba diving and snorkelling sites. Sail Rock, north of Koh Phangan has 18m of natural rock chimney to swim through and is a great place to see whale sharks and Koh Tao has 21 sites off its shores. A day's diving from Samui can include two or three sites.
If you're keen to dive it's probably best not to book your holiday during the November monsoon season.
Snorkelling and boat trips, a great way to experience the coast of Koh Samui.
Take a boat trip around the island to see some of the most stunning beaches and coves such as Big Buddha Bay, Choeng Mon Bay, Chaweng Bay, Lamai Bay, Hua Thanon Bay, Koh Mudsum and Koh Tan. A BBQ style picnic lunch is usually part of the deal.
Sailing on Koh Samui
Following the success of the Samui Regatta, the island's sailing scene has taken off and the islands surrounding the Ang Thong National Park make an ideal sailing playground with good all-year-round breezes and challenging westerly winds between May and November. You'll find several boat companies operate boat charters such as Sailing in Samui and Oceanselitecharters.
Explore the jungle surrounding the Villa.
Why not explore the jungle with an elephant trek. A typical 'trek' lasts between 15 minutes and half an hour and is an excellent way to see the island's lush, jungle interior. If you want, you can even go up into the hills for magnificent views over the island or through waterfalls to get a real taste of paradise.
Adrenaline rush on Koh Samui
You are really spoilt for choice when it comes to high adrenaline activities on Koh Samui. Go karting suitable for both beginners and more experienced riders is of course fun and fast. Samui Go-Kart provides everything from instructions to helmets and is open from 9 am to 9 pm every day. You'll find it just west of Bophut, off the main ring road.
For quad biking, head to Maenam where there are several off-road courses with facilities for small children too, as well as a paintball shooting range that delivers the same buzz.

Tree top adventure.
Explore Koh Samui's jungle from a different perspective by swinging through the trees on over 500 metres of cable! Koh Samui Canopy Adventures features six different cable runs as well as some stunning waterfalls. They also provide a free shuttle from anywhere on the island, including Villas Velks. Samui Canopy Adventures is located in the jungle inland and is well signposted.

Thai cuisine is one of the most popular in the world and the easy going environment of Koh Samui's cookery schools means the island is the perfect place to learn and enjoy some delicious local dishes and ingredients. There are many cooking schools on the island and courses can be arranged both at Villa Velks or elsewhere. Other activities around Koh Samui.
There are many other activities available on the island including adventure sports, bungy jumping, Zorb balling, football and quad biking. There are also many spots of outstanding beauty to discover and explore. We recommend Big Buddha, some of the island's waterfalls, the Secret Buddha Garden and Butterfly Garden to name but a few and for families a visit to the water park is a must.
